Hello! My name is Ms. Batty. I am from Blanco, Texas. I attended college at Texas State University in San Marcos. I moved to Austin in 2004. I taught Pre-K at Hart and Metz Elementary before coming to Brooke where I have taught for 7 years. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am very excited about this school year. We will be doing many hands on activities throughout the year like planting a garden and hatching chicks to teach the students about nature. We also love to sing and dance in my classroom as we are learning. It is very important to me to keep communication open between us throughout the school year in the best interest of your child. I am here to support students and parents. I also appreciate support from parents. I will do my best to keep you updated on things your child will be accomplishing and learning this year through pictures and other resources so please check this page often. Feel free to contact me, I check BEE folders daily. You can call or email me. Together we can move mountains and we can work together to make this an incredible school year!
Your child will have homework every week. It will be sent home in the BEE folder on Monday, and is due every Friday. Please help your child complete all the tasks on the homework. They are brief, fun activities that will help your child develop oral language skills, fine and gross motor skills, and math and literacy skills. Please put a check mark by each task to show it has been completed. I recommend doing a little bit each night, as four-year-olds may not have the attention span to work on the entire page in one sitting. I also ask that you read with your child for 15-20 minutes every day. Please don't skip this...it's the most important part of the homework! We want your child to develop a love of books, reading, and learning!
